My "Why"

The story of a photographer

“I give thanks to you that I was marvelously set apart. Your works are wonderful - I know that very well.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭14

Hello! My name is Riley, an art-maker and picture-taker. My passion for art goes back as long as I can remember, which is what moved me to pursue my degree in Fine Arts. During my formal training in university, I discovered the empowering experience of photography, and I was hooked! I have been practicing photography since 2012, and art since I was old enough to hold a pencil, and I'm always looking for new ways to improve. I truly believe we are each "marvelously and wonderfully made," and I want to help commemorate the masterpiece you already are. I find deep joy in celebrating clients, using photography as a cathartic moment along the self-love journey.

So, why boudoir? From my own personal experience, engaging in a boudoir session allows individuals to embrace their bodies in a new and unique way. Celebrating the body through creative photography fosters positive connections with our self image, revealing our inner strength. The process is incredibly therapeutic, promoting confidence and a healing approach to the way we see ourselves. Boudoir photography helps subjects explore sensuality and personal beauty. Most importantly, I seek to fully empower clients through my lens, helping them discover and appreciate new facets of themselves. One client even said: "you make people feel at ease and comfortable and have a way of bringing out the best in everyone." In essence, a boudoir photoshoot serves as a celebration of individuality; it is a visual testament to each person's inherent, God-given beauty.

My goal as a boudoir photographer is not to photoshop clients beyond recognition into cookie-cutter images that reflect the world's "beauty" standards. Instead, I seek to reflect the subject's personality, embracing "imperfections" and helping them see themselves as beautifully as I do. I only retouch what will heal on its own (blemishes, bruises, etc.), striving to enhance the natural beauty of the subject, rather than making an unrecognizable image. I also love to partner with clients in making their creative or adventurous vision come to life.

You are beautiful, and you have always been beautiful. I'd love to help you celebrate that with art.
