So...What will you Photoshop out?
If you’ve looked around my website or seen the work from my client's confidence-boosting photo shoot, you’ll probably notice that I take a different approach to photoshop than many boudoir photographers. I only photoshop what could naturally heal or be fixed: blemishes, bruises, wild flyaway hairs, etc. As a empowerment photographer, I limit the use of Photoshop to celebrate and empower clients by embracing their natural beauty, fostering self-love and confidence. Over-editing can distort body image, setting unrealistic standards that undermine authenticity and self-acceptance.
Photoshop is for fixing photographs, not for “fixing” people.
It can be tempting to use tools like that to enhance our self-image, but in the long run, overexposure to highly edited images of ourselves can be damaging to our self-esteem and confidence. Here’s a more in depth article about how certain photo editing practices can influence our perception and self esteem.
If you’d like to work on your relationship with your body, you might find my prayer journal, available here, a useful resource. Empowerment photography is about revealing how amazing and beautiful you already are. No need to “fake it.” Your beauty is real!
